This lecture introduces you to the course philosophy, goals, grading standards and practices, and provides a strategy for success.

Activities

1. Download Lecture 1.1 slides.
2. Download and read the syllabus entirely and carefully.
3. Do one of the following:
   1. In-person section: Attend Lecture 1.1.
   2. Online section: Watch the following videos
      1. Video 1.1.1: Welcome and Course Philosophy. 
      2. Video 1.1.2: Grading Standards and Practices. 
      3.  Video 1.1.3: Strategies for Success. 
4. Read sections 1-3 of Baloney Detection and the Tools of Science.

Assessment

After completing the activities, log into Canvas, launch BIO 181 and complete Lec 1.1 Quiz.
